Student Notes

We are trialing a new field on the extras templates called “Student Notes” with one of our clients. Once the trial is completed successfully we will roll this feature out to other schools later in Term 2.

Here are the details.

Student Notes” is designed for additional information for supporting the individual needs of students (e.g. classroom assistant roles, medical info, seating arrangements etc).

If an absent teacher enters information in this field the following will occur:

1. The “Student Notes” will not print out on the PDF, but a message will print indicating that “Student Notes” have been entered, and can be viewable online by the covering teacher.

2. The covering teacher will see a clickable link on the online version of the extra notice (immediately below the classroom instructions) that will allow the “Student Notes” to be viewed, and then hidden if required. By default it is hidden.

3. As a nice little aside, and to help reduce the need for teachers to re-type student notes, we have built in an “auto enter” feature that will pull up the same student notes into the future when extras are being written for the particular class. Once the current semester finishes (and subject codes usually change), the saved student notes are reset. The saved student notes can also be easily deleted at anytime by the absent teacher if they do not want it to use it again into the future (there is a clickable link that appears for them to do that).
